Dep Art Gallery Milano è lieta di annunciare la mostra “Regine Schumann , Iris”, curata da Alberto Mattia Martini.
Questa terza esposizione personale dedicata a Regine Schumann (Goslar, Germania, 1961), ripercorre, in circa 20 opere, l’evoluzione della sua produzione artistica fino alla recente serie “corners” dove, grazie all’introduzione di nuovi piani visuali, Schumann sperimenta una maggiore complessità dinamica tra il materiale, la luce e lo spettatore.

Nella mitologia greca, Iris è la messaggera degli dèi e personificazione dell'arcobaleno, considerato un ponte tra cielo e terra che unisce mondi diversi. Questo simbolismo si lega intimamente al lavoro di Regine Schumann, le cui opere creano una connessione profonda tra il materiale, il plexiglass, e l'immateriale, ovvero la luce. Il titolo "Iris" risuona in perfetta sintonia con il lavoro di Regine Schumann, evidenziandone l’indagine meticolosa ed approfondita del rapporto tra luce e colore.

Come afferma il curatore Alberto Mattia Martini: “Nelle opere di Regine Schumann il colore e la luce divengono un tutt'uno, arrivando a trascendere il reale ed immergendo l'occhio dello spettatore in una dimensione atemporale, senza limiti di confini per lo sguardo. La nuova produzione di opere dell'artista approfondisce un dialogo costante tra l'irradiazione cromatica del colore e l'iride (Iris) di chi osserva, offrendo un'esperienza visiva unica, intrisa di mistero e fascinazione.

La corrispondenza continua tra luce artificiale e naturale, ombra, colore e spazio, si trasfigura in una composizione artistica dinamica, in un perenne mutare che sembra indurre la superficie cromatica a vibrare e a prendere vita.

Esplorando il potenziale emotivo e simbolico del colore e la capacità della luce di plasmare la percezione, Regine Schumann, ha dato forma ad alcune nuove opere con uno o più angoli smussati, che ci riconducono ai grandi rettangoli di Mark Rothko, dove la pittura sembra evaporarne i contorni, dando vita anche nel caso dell'artista tedesca a opere che si distinguono per la loro intensità visiva e la profondità concettuale.

Le lastre di plexiglass creano velature di pigmento monocromatico dalle quali emerge, come in una epifania, la luce che, forgiando superfici d'energia, pervade ed interagisce con lo spazio che le accoglie.”

La mostra è accompagnata da un catalogo in italiano e inglese, comprensivo di apparati bio-bibliografici aggiornati e il testo del curatore.

Dep Art Gallery in Milan is delighted to present "Regine Schumann: Iris", curated by Alberto Mattia Martini. This third solo exhibition dedicated to Regine Schumann (Goslar, Germany, 1961) showcases about 20 works tracing the evolution of her artistic production up to the recent "corners" series. In this series, Schumann experiments with greater dynamic complexity between material, light, and the observer, through the introduction of new visual planes.

In Greek mythology, Iris is the messenger of the gods and the personification of the rainbow, considered a bridge between heaven and earth, uniting different worlds. This symbolism is intimately linked to Schumann's work, where her pieces create a profound connection between the material - plexiglass, and the immaterial - light. The title "Iris" perfectly resonates with Regine Schumann's work, highlighting her meticulous and in-depth investigation of the relationship between light and color.

Curator Alberto Mattia Martini states: “In Regine Schumann's works, color and light become one, transcending reality and immersing the viewer's eye in a timeless dimension, without boundaries. The artist's new body of work deepens the constant dialogue between chromatic irradiation of color and the iris (Iris) of the observer, offering a unique visual experience filled with mystery and fascination. The continuous interplay of artificial and natural light, shadow, color, and space transforms into a dynamic artistic composition, in a perpetual change that seems to induce the chromatic surface to vibrate and come to life. Exploring the emotional and symbolic potential of color and the ability of light to shape perception, Regine Schumann has created new works with one or more rounded corners, reminiscent of Mark Rothko's large rectangles, where the painting seems to evaporate the contours, giving life to works distinguished by their visual intensity and conceptual depth. The plexiglass sheets create layers of monochromatic pigment from which light emerges like an epiphany, forging surfaces of energy, pervading and interacting with the space that welcomes them.”

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue in Italian and English, including updated bio-bibliographical apparatus and the curator's text.
