Pino Deodato nasce a Nao (Vibo Valentia) nel 1950, vive e lavora a Milano. Sin da giovane si avvicina alla pittura e alla pratica scultorea, imparando a lavorare la terracotta e dando particolare attenzione alla ricerca del dettaglio. Le sue opere guidano lo spettatore in un viaggio introspettivo, ove — grazie alle delicate scelte cromatiche e alla creazione di immagini allegoriche — spingono l’immaginazione al confine tra sogno e realtà. Le sue opere sono oggi esposte in prestigiose gallerie e istituzioni in Italia e all’estero. Il video con cui Dep Art Gallery omaggia l’artista, ripercorre gli ultimi anni della sua produzione, mostrando diversi cicli e serie che caratterizzano la sua poetica: si passa dalle sue opere più metaforiche (come Giotto o Un grande amore, entrambe del 2013 o Pensatoio, 2017) alle sue famose librerie (Non c’è più niente da fare, 2017 o Inchiostro, 2018), fino ad arrivare alle atmosfere trasognanti di opere come Pensierini domestici, 2017. Intervallano le opere, immagini (a cura di Fabio Mantegna) dell’artista al lavoro nel suo bellissimo studio milanese, fotografie delle studio visit di Antonio Addamiano con Amanda Nicoli e Sara Salvi e dei momenti di incontro con altre personalità del panorama artistico, quali Natale Addamiano, Mauro Staccioli e Pino Pinelli. Grazie alla cura minuziosa che Pino Deodato dedica a ogni singolo aspetto delle sue opere (immortalate in studio da Bruno Bani), sarà possibile vivere attraverso il video un’immersione totale nei pensieri e nelle riflessioni esistenziali dei loro solitari protagonisti.
